Most Underrated Players

There’s big names like West Catholics’ running back David Williams and two-way linemen Jayrd Jones-Smith and Penn Charter’s Mike McGlinchey. But, there are many players that are not only being overlooked by division one schools, but also, local high school football “lovers.” This list is the the most underrated players coming into the 2012 season!

Tim DiGiorgio-QB-Frankford HS-Led his team to an 8-3 record, Passed for 2,357 yards & 30 touchdowns. He tied the Philadelphia Public league recorded for passing touchdowns in a single game vs Overbrook when he threw 6 TDs.

Jesse Gillis-ATH-Central HS-Overshadowed by Temple recruit Richard Drayton, Gillis prodcued 782 yards(656 yards rushed & 126 receiving). Gillis AVG. 7.5 yard per touch. Big time speed, he is a threat to take to it to the “house” whenever he gets the ball.

Vince Careghini-WR-Central Bucks East HS-The 6’1 160 pounder, caught 32 catches for 498 yards & 4 touchdowns. Careghini has tremendous hands and can stretch the field.

Mike Class-RB-Pennridge HS-Rushed for over 1,500 yards as a SOPHOMORE. Scored 17 times and was a big part to an rushing attack that was averaging 200 yards per game.

John Mullin-LB-Central Bucks South HS-Mullin is undersized for the linebacker postition but is a play maker. As a Junior, He made 117 tackles, 2 sacks and a interception.

Steve Veal-DB-Central Bucks South HS-A Defensive back that had over 100+ tackles this past season and two interception. Veal, like his teammate Mullin, has a “nose” for the ball.

Jarred Jones-RB-Spring-Ford HS-Another Sophomore, Rushed for over 1,450 yards, 17 touchdowns and averaged 9.3 yards per carry. Jones was a huge piece to Spring-Fords success.

Ryan Pennella-LB-Phoenixville HS-Pannella is a football, touch, gritty and puts his team before himself. Pannella recorded 195 tackles last year as a Junior. What’s really amazing, is that Pennella was Phoenixville’s starting Tight End.

Mason Romano-DL-Spring-Ford HS-As a Sophomore, Romano recorded 20 tackles, 5 sacks and 3 blocked punts. He is an undersize lineman but like everyone else on this list, he is a football player.

Tory Hudgins-ATH-Pottsgrove HS-Hudgins was “Mr. Everything” for the Falcons. Passed 366 yards but rushed for 1,037 yards. Produced over 35% of Pottsgroves’ offense. Led the Falcons to a 11-3 record an a state semi-final game.

Nick Visco-K/WR-Archbishop Wood HS- Made 39 extra points this past season and a 35 yard field goal. When you play for a team that scores touchdowns every time they have the ball, it’s hard to kick field goals. But, he has a “boot.” He is one of the states best kickers.

Dez White-OL-Samuel Fels HS-White was an first team all-league choice in the AAAA Philadelphia Public League. White, fires out and moves people. Has length and great technique.

Scott Ervin-OL/DL-Simon Gratz HS-The 6’2 310 pounder is an “earthmover.” He can pass block and run block as good as anyone. Big body that is no stranger to the pancake stat-line.
