With summer starting to dwell down, there’s that familiar “smell” in the air. Football season is almost here! There is just two weeks separating summer from training camp. For upper classmen, camp means a refresher on techniques and the playbook. Not so easy for the incoming freshmen and sophomores. For them it’s a fast pace crash course on football. But, for both age groups they will have to face and overcome the same adversities on the field. There will be unforgettable moments, whether good or bad, that build character for all these young men’s lives. For the student-athletes that are able to overcome the grueling dog days of summer, it will provide life-lessons that will be used in everyday life.
In today’s post I will start my position rankings list. I’ll give you a top ten list for the position with an honorable mention. This post will start with defensive backs in the counties of Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia and now Chester. Enjoy!’
Defensive Backs- (Safeties included)

1.Nate Smith-Archbishop Wood (Last season with George Washington)-The 6’1 190 pounder shows a mixture of athletic ability and size that have college coaches around the country knocking at his door. He has multiple D-I offers favored seems to be Michigan State.

2.Kyle Kerrick-Coatesville-6’3 200-Kerrick is a physical safety, that has all the tangibles to be an elite player at the next level. He has great hands and seems to be in the opposing teams’ playbook . He had eight D-I offers, mostly Big East schools, but he went with Michigan State. He will likely play Wide Receiver there

3.Brandon Shippen-Norristown- This speedy 5’10 175 pound cornerback has already committed to Temple University. As a junior, Shippen had 21 tackles, two pass break-ups and two interceptions, why so low of numbers, it’s because opposing Qbs only threw towards him 11 times all season.

4.Will Parks-Germantown- at 6’1 175 lbs. and runs a 4.5 forty, Parks had six D-I offers but has pledged to play across state at the University of Pittsburgh. Parks is an explosive type of player that can do it all. He had 657 yards rushing with 143 carries and also caught 9 passes for 138 yards, five total touchdowns. On defense, Parks recorded 45 tackles and 3 interceptions.

5.Damiere Shaw-Cardinal O’Hara- 5’10 170, Shaw shows a lot of potential on both sides of the ball, has great hands, quick feet and runs a 4.5 forty. Shaw is like a shadow for opposing Wide receivers. He has committed to play at Temple next fall.

6.Brandon Robles-Downingtown East-5’11 170 Robles is an under the radar defensive back. Good speed and good hands have him able to stay with the areas best wide receiver but if you see him running toward you, you better watch out because he can hit. Robles can punish opposing teams with his hard hits. Some D-I looks, mostly D-II

7. Lee Williams-Neshaminy- 5’11 175- Williams is a returning First team Suburban League National Conference Defensive Back. Williams has a “noise for the ball.” He has Qb’s thinking twice before throwing towards him. He has multiple D-II offers.

8.Morgan Jackson-Plymouth-Whitemarsh-6’1 170-Is a menace for Wide Receivers  due to the fact of his combination of speed and size. Jackson last season had 27 tackles with 3 pass deflections and 4 interceptions.

9.Savoy Martin-Frankford-5’11 165-Speed is no obstacle for Martin who runs a sub 4.5. This Philadelphia native has no trouble keeping up with receivers. Last season Martin recorded 7 interceptions with 5 pass deflections. Martin is getting looks from D-II schools mostly PSAC.

10. Sean Coleman-LaSalle(JR)-5’10 165-Coleman has a natural athletic ability that makes it tough for opposing teams. Coleman was a big part of last years’ AAAA State Runner-ups LaSalle team. Has big time potential. Expect to hear his name more often as the season progresses.

Jim Haley-Monsignor Bonner(JR) 6’1 180

Sincere Merced-Lincoln 5’6 150

Dalvin Newll-Ridley 5’7 165
