District One/Twelve Sub-Regional “AA” Championship

District One/Twelve Sub Regional AA Championship

West Catholic vs Imhotep Charter at Germantown High School, Friday November 16th, 7 PM

West Catholic (7-3) Last Week:Beat Conwell Egan 48-14 in Semi-Finals

West Catholic’s offense has been clicking all season, as the Burrs put up 35.3 Points per contest. Like usual, their huge up front but none of which are big as Jayrd Jones-Smith,6’7 320 lbs., who has been dominating everyone he has faced. Running Back, Greg White has rushed for over 1,400 yards on the season so far and QB,Antwain McCollum has passed for over 1,400 yards.

Imhotep Charter (11-0)

A little bad blood maybe brewing at West Catholic, due to the departure of Star Running Back, David Williams. But for the new Panther, Williams, it’s been “business as usual.” He has rushed for 1,157 yards on 126 carries, which is almost a first down every time he touches the ball. But you can not forget about Eerin Young who is the second leading rusher with 913 yards on 93 carries. Imhotep has also been shutting down opposing teams only letting up only 50 points all season(6 shutouts).

Last Meeting:Never Faced each other.

Bristol (7-1) Last Week:BYE

Bristol’s offensive line has led the way to the Warriors first League Title since ’07. Star Sophomore Running Back, Donte Simmonds, is expect to get the work load this Friday night. Pottsgrove’s Lineman, O’Connor Picks Up D-1 Offer

Pottsgrove’s All-State Left Tackle, Madison O’Connor, 6’5 330, picked up an offer from Hawaii this pass week. O’Connor, who has been getting interest from major schools, has the ideal size of an offensive tackle at the next level. He was named to the First Team All-State AAA last year and has been a crucial part of the Pottsgrove Falcons success.

Episcopal Academy vs Malvern Prep Preview

When you’re the reigning League champs, everyone is “gunning” for you. But, when you boast an impressive 7-0 record, only allowing 14 points all season, you are the real top dogs, right? Well this week two of the top teams in the Inter-Ac will face off(Malvern Prep & Episcopal Academy). Both teams are heading into the game with undefeated league records and a “winner takes all” kind of atmosphere.

Episcopal Academy has showed that they’re able to win their first Inter-Ac title since ’04, when they shared the championship with Germantown Academy & Penn Charter. Episcopal, has a three man rushing attack, four if you include QB, senior 6’3 Adam Strouss. Strouss, who leads all ball carriers with 494 yards on 83 carries, has been the total package this season so far. He has produced 57% of the Churchmen’s offense. But, you can not forget about Ian Strain, Anthony Felizani and Cody Russell. All three backs are compatible of having big games any given week.

If the Malvern Prep Friars slow down the offense, they’ll need to find ways to score on a defense that has only allowed two teams to find the end zone all season. Episcopal, features a big defensive line that seems to be in the back field all game, a line-backing crew that flies to the ball and a great secondary.

On the other side, Malvern features one of the area’s top passing attacks, led by QB-Bill Ford. Ford has completed 46% of his passes for 860 yards and seven touchdown through the air. 6’4 215-lbs. Ryan Ammerman, has had the majority of the catches and has been a consistent multi-catch a game guy. Like Episcopal, Malvern features a three-back backfield. But none are quiet good as senior, Eric Purnell. Purnell has break-away speed and great vision but it all starts up front, where Malvern has dominated. In every game the Friars won, thus far, they have controlled the line of scrimmage.

Expect a battle in the trenches and whoever controls the L.O.S.(Line of Scrimmage), will most likely be the more successful team.
