Webster-Kirkwood Times Sports

The Kirkwood Middle School Football Program is still accepting players for the coming season. The program is open to 7th and 8th graders at both Nipher and North Kirkwood Middle Schools.
Kirkwood High School football Coach Larry Frost said his varsity squad has the potential to rack up wins in 2009. Still, it will take a little time before he can fully access his team's ability.
One for the pinky. Webster Groves Coach Cliff Ice is certain his 11th football squad will be a strong contender to win the Class 5 Missouri State Show-Me State Championship.
Vianney Coach Gene Gladstone walked toward his football team's locker on Aug. 28 at Don Heeb Field. The Golden Griffins just lost an 18-7 season-opening, non-conference game to Oakville -- a game Gladstone said his squad had ample opportunities to win.
The St. Louis County Library Foundation will present sportswriter and Webster Groves resident Greg Marecek, author of "The St. Louis Football Cardinals: A Celebration of The Big Red," on Wednesday, Sept.
The Sept. 4 home opener against Rockwood Summit began with the Webster Groves Statesmen introduced not as individual football players, but as a team. Statesmen Coach Cliff Ice was making a statement: The most important name appears on the front, not on the back of his players' jerseys.
As the 2009 high school football season gets underway, Kirkwood High School has many questions to be answered. At the top of the question list: Just how good would Kirkwood be this season? Kirkwood got an inkling of what may transpire after mashing Marquette, 42-16, in its season opener on Sept.
