Section pride: Several teams carry the Central Section banner outside the area for Week 1 games. Leading the way is section No. 3 Clovis West playing at Servite-Anaheim, which jumped six spots to No. 6 in this week's Cal-Hi Sports state Top 25. That game will be on Courage Field on the campus of the private school. The trip is even more daunting because Clovis West will be missing seven players suspended by the school for attending a weekend party where alcohol was consumed. No. 11 Clovis East, one week after losing its opener at home to Atascadero, goes on the road to face Redlands East Valley (a bubble team in the Cal-Hi rankings) at University of Redlands. Other interesting out-of-section matchups see section No. 2 Bullard visiting Atwater, Clovis playing at Atascadero, Paso Robles visiting section No. 7 Central and Canyon-Canyon Country at section No. 4 Bakersfield.
