L.A. Cathedral junior is clocked in 10.49 seconds, and Oaks Christian senior Owusu runs to victory in 200.

Sprinter Randall Carroll knows there's a good chance that he could be competing on the same football field some Saturday against Chris Owusu of Westlake Village Oaks Christian. Until then, however, the Los Angeles Cathedral junior has made it his goal to beat the senior in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

CIF picks Carson facility over six other bids to remain host for season-ending games this year and 2009.

The CIF state football championship bowl games will remain at the Home Depot Center in Carson for the next two years, CIF Executive Director Marie Ishida announced Wednesday.

Will Pidd of Jesuit High School is in his fourth varsity rugby season. He plays scrum half, rugby's equivalent of quarterback or point guard. Following a season of freshman football, Pidd went out for rugby. "I thought it would be a good thing to do for football," he said, "but I haven't played football since." Pidd said he tried rugby because his cousins, who live in England, play it. He shares five things he loves about rugby:

Sac-Joaquin Section assistant commissioner John Williams said that the section and UC Davis have agreed in principal to hold the 2008 Sac-Joaquin Section Division I football championship game Dec. 13 at the university.

John Paul hungered to be the boss. Finally last spring, the longtime football assistant got his chance when he became Center High School's head football coach.

Former Center High football coach John Paul, 62, says he thinks his last shot at run- ning a program is gone now that the school reinstated former coach Digol J'Beily.

DIGOL J'BEILY He fought for his reinstatement after he was fired. He coached the 2005 and 2006 seasons, then resigned.
